Baseball Recap: Jackson Takes a Loss

Jackson extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping them down to 8-14. They lost 8-2 to the Callaway Cavaliers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Cavaliers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 4-3 loss on Friday.

As for Callaway, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 16-8. Considering they have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

For Callaway's part, Slade Hunt was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Those seven strikeouts gave Hunt a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with five RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Jackson Butts was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Luke Taylor, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Jackson will take on Mary Persons at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Callaway, they will welcome LaGrange at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
