Basketball Recap: Rancho Verde Comes Up Short

Rancho Verde lost against Canyon Springs back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Rancho Verde Mustangs received a blow as they fell 47-31 to the Canyon Springs Cougars. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Leading Canyon Springs to victory were Kaleayah Marshall and Izabella Tejada. Marshall dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 boards, while Tejada almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Marshall has scored at least a third of Canyon Springs' points. Alyssa Munoz was another key player, putting up six points.

Rancho Verde's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Canyon Springs, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 18-5.

Rancho Verde will challenge Orange Vista at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Rancho Verde is facing Orange Vista at the right time seeing as Orange Vista is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Canyon Springs, they will take on JW North at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Canyon Springs is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.6 points per game this season.
