Basketball Recap: Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences Takes a Loss

Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Northridge Academy Pumas and fell 69-16. The Vipers lost against the Pumas in their previous head to head back in January, too, but the margin this time around was even wider than the 73-41 score last time.

Northridge Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Haylin Hernandez out in front who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards. The dominant performance also gave Hernandez a new career-high in steals (four). Another player making a difference was Jennalyn Gerona, who went 6 of 8 en route to 12 points and five steals.

Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences' loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Northridge Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-2.

Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences and Central City Value will face off at 4:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Central City Value's defense has only allowed 26.8 points per game this season, so Valley Academy of Arts & Sciences' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Northridge Academy, they will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Sherman Oaks CES at 4:00 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
