Baseball Recap: Wheeler Beats Cristo Rey Atlanta for Their Third Straight Victory

Wheeler waltzed into their game on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They blew past Cristo Rey Atlanta 12-6. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Wildcats also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Joshua Welkis tossed a big game, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off five hits. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

At the plate, Wheeler let Camden Lansdell and Owen Carlsen run wild. Lansdell went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple, while Carlsen went 3-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run. The dominant performance also gave Lansdell a new career-high in RBI (two). Jaden Carroll also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Wheeler's record now sits at 3-8. As for Cristo Rey Atlanta, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-3.
