Baseball Recap: Pope County Pirates vs. Hardin County Cougars
Pope County extended their losing streak to three on Friday, dropping them down to 5-14. They lost 12-1 to the Hardin County Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 20-0 on Thursday.
Pope County saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Bucher, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.
As for Hardin County, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. The result was nothing new for Hardin County, who have now won nine contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
On Hardin County's side, Bryden Banks made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits (and not a single walk). Banks was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Kase Fulkerson was incredible, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Braxton Martin was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.
Pope County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Hardin County, they will head out to face off against Harrisburg at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
