Football Game Preview: First Baptist Saints vs. Sacred Heart Tigers

The First Baptist Saints will square off against the Sacred Heart Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. First Baptist is coming into the game hot, having won their last four games.

On Friday, First Baptist strolled past Atlas HomeSchool with points to spare, taking the game 41-26. The Saints pushed the score to 35-14 by the end of the third, a deficit the Rattlers cut but never quite recovered from.

The match pitted two dominant signal callers against one another in Dylan Jones and Timmy Thames. Jones had a solid game and threw for 257 yards and a pair of TDs. Meanwhile, Thames was balling out in the loss, throwing for 368 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in one score on the ground.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to First Baptist's defense and their seven sacks. Atlas HomeSchool's QB won't forget Kore Thomas anytime soon given he sacked him twice. Thomas has been hot recently, having also posted five or more total tackles the last four times he's played. Marc Gutierrez was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making six total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Meanwhile, after soaring to 42 points the game before, Sacred Heart was a bit more limited in their contest last Friday. They were outmatched by Mercy Culture Prep and fell 48-10.

First Baptist's victory bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Sacred Heart, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.

Everything came up roses for First Baptist against Sacred Heart in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 46-6 win. In that matchup, the Saints amassed a halftime lead of 46-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
