Baseball Game Preview: Washburn Beavers vs. Wisdom Pioneers

Washburn hasn't had much luck against Wisdom recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Beavers will host the Pioneers at 4:00 p.m. Washburn has given up an average of 9.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Monday just wasn't the day for Washburn's offense. They came up short against Fort Fairfield on Monday, falling 12-0.

Hodgdon hit Wisdom with a four-run seventh inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pioneers fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Pioneers have suffered since June 3, 2025.

Kamden Daigle made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Lavoie, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI.

Wisdom's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Washburn, their loss dropped their record down to 4-6.

Washburn suffered a grim 12-4 defeat to Wisdom in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Beavers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
