Soccer Game Preview: Corona vs. Centennial

The Corona Panthers are taking a road trip to challenge the Centennial Huskies at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Corona's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for nine straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Corona's offense. They fell 2-0 to Santiago on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 438th, while the Sharks are ranked third).

Meanwhile, after soaring to four goals the game before, Centennial was a bit more limited in their matchup on Tuesday. They took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Roosevelt.

Corona's loss dropped their record down to 7-9-3. As for Centennial, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8-2 record this season.

Corona suffered a grim 5-0 defeat to Centennial in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can Corona avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
