Recap: Penn Cambria Panthers vs. Somerset Eagles
The Penn Cambria Panthers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They claimed a resounding 72-40 win over Somerset at home. The victory was just what Penn Cambria needed coming off of a 59-37 loss in their prior game.
Penn Cambria's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isabelle Andersen, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Saleme, who scored ten points.
Despite the loss, Somerset saw an underclassman step up: Eve Housley scored 24 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 60% of Somerset's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Reagan Holmes, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds and two steals.
Penn Cambria's victory bumped their record up to 9-7. As for Somerset, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.
Penn Cambria will be playing at home against Bedford at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Somerset on the road again on Thursday and play against Central Cambria at 7:15 p.m. on January 25th. Central Cambria presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Somerset in Pennsylvania (Central Cambria is ranked 136th, while Somerset is ranked 518th).
