Basketball Recap: Sadie Sjolund and Payton Santos Secure Win for Durham

Durham entered their tilt with Anderson on Friday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 51-43 win over the Anderson Cubs. This was payback for the Trojans, who suffered a 45-29 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Leading Durham to victory were Payton Santos and Sadie Sjolund. Santos posted 12 points, while Sjolund earned ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyleigh Flux, who had seven points.

Anderson's loss came despite strong showings from Taylor Ford and Payten Ford. Taylor dropped a double-double on 18 points and 24 rebounds, while Payten dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, Taylor is now averaging an impressive 2.2 blocks per game. Another player making a difference was Maria Santillan, who put up five points.

Durham has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season. As for Anderson, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-4.

Durham wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 42-40 defeat against Fortuna on the 21st. As for Anderson, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 47-43 loss against Orland on the 21st.
