Basketball Recap: Leuzinger Takes a Loss

If Leuzinger was feeling good fresh off their 81-13 takedown of Hawthorne on Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Leuzinger Olympians took a 56-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Culver City Centaurs on Saturday. The Olympians were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Centaurs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Leuzinger saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tatyana Aubry posted 19 points. Aubry's afternoon made it four games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Brianna Ike, who scored ten points.

Leuzinger dropped their record down to 13-12 with the loss, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.8 points per game. As for Culver City, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-8.

Leuzinger has already played their next matchup (against Beverly Hills), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Culver City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
