2020 All-Great Lakes Region Football Team: Offense

Kyle McCord, Corey Kiner, Carson Steele, Nolan Rucci and Blake Fisher headline the All-Great Lakes football teams.

Red Grange, Jim Brown, Dick Butkus, Dan Marino, Joe Montana and Charles Woodson. The Great Lakes region has cultivated a bumper crop of prep talent that's gone on to rank among the greatest players in football history. Here's a look at the next batch – the 2020 MaxPreps All-Great Lakes Region Football Team.

The all-star squad is made up of players from Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Illinois and New York moved football to the spring.

ALL-GREAT LAKES REGION FIRST TEAM OFFENSE

QB: Kyle McCord, St. Joseph's Prep (Philadelphia), 6-3, 215, sr.
Status: Signed with Ohio State

Led the Philadelphia power to its third consecutive 6A state title and finished his high school career as the all-time leader in league history with 6,870 yards passing and 88 career touchdowns. First player ever to be named Philadelphia Catholic League Red Division MVP three seasons in a row (2018-2020). Also named Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class 6A state player of the year.

RB: Corey Kiner, Roger Bacon (Cincinnati), 5-10, 197, sr.
Status: Signed with LSU

Ohio Mr. Football caps his career ranked third in Ohio history in total points (772), total touchdowns (125) and rushing touchdowns (116). His 7,130 rushing yards ranks 10th all-time.



RB: Carson Steele, Center Grove (Greenwood, Ind.), 6-0, 202, sr.

Indiana Mr. Football ends historic career with 5,936 yards rushing and 82 touchdowns, including 1,688 and 31, respectively, as a senior. Holds offers from Ball State, Indiana State and Southern Illinois. IFCA Top 50 all-state 2020.

WR: Liam Clifford, St. Xavier (Cincinnati), 6-2, 190, sr.
Status: Signed with Penn State

GCL South tri-POY ends his career as the program’s all-time leader with 166 receptions, 2,538 receiving yards and 30 touchdown catches. Will join brother Sean at Penn State. OPSWA D-I Ohio co-Offensive Player of the Year.

WR: Marvin Harrison Jr., St. Joseph’s Prep (Philadelphia), 6-3, 190, sr.
Status: Signed with Ohio State

Helped lead the No. 3 team in the MaxPreps Top 25 high school football rankings to a third consecutive state title and finished his career as the all-time leader in PCL history with 2,625 yards receiving and 37 touchdowns. Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class 6A all-state.

TE: Aaron Steinfeldt, Bloomington North (Ind.), 6-5, 230, sr.
Status: Signed with Indiana

Top 40 tight end prospect nationally picked the Hoosiers over Cincinnati, Toledo, Boise State, Virginia and UCF among others. IFCA Top 50 all-state 2020 and IFCA Mr. Football position winner.

OL: Blake Fisher, Avon (Ind.), 6-5.5, 336, sr.
Status: Signed with Notre Dame

Finalist for Indiana’s Mr. Football is the state’s top prospect and a Top 50 prospect nationally. Owns 34 offers. IFCA Top 50 all-state 2020 and IFCA Mr. Football position winner.

The state's No. 1 rated prospect dominated on both sides of the ball. Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class 5A all-state.

The 4-star recruit is the country’s No. 16 tackle prospect and a Top 130 prospect overall. Named first team AP all-state.

OL: Ben Christman, Revere (Richfield, Ohio), 6-6, 299, sr.
Status: Signed with Ohio State

Top 10 tackle prospect nationally. Had 102 knockdowns in 9 games and graded out at 98%. Also played defense where he had 39 tackles, four tackles-for-loss, two forced fumbles and two blocked kicks. Named first team OPSWA D-III all-state.

OL: Rocco Spindler, Clarkston (Mich.), 6-4.5, 315, sr.
Status: Signed with Notre Dame

No. 3 guard prospect nationally and No. 3 overall prospect in Michigan. Two-way starter since freshman season. Named first team MHSFCA and AP Divisions 1-2 all-state.

AP: Lorenzo Styles Jr., Pickerington Central (Ohio), 6-1, 190, sr.
Status: Signed with Notre Dame

OPSWA D-I Ohio co-Offensive Player of the Year after tallying 1,100 all-purpose yards. Head coach Jay Sharrett calls him the most talented player he’s coached in 33 years. Finalist for Ohio’s Mr. Football.

ALL-GREAT LAKES REGION SECOND TEAM OFFENSE

QB: Nathan McCahill, Cathedral (Indianapolis), 6-0, 180, sr.
Status: Uncommitted

All-City Offensive Player of the Year in Indianapolis led the Irish to their 13th state title (5A) this season by completing 227-of-333 passes for 3,215 yards and 41 touchdowns. Also ran for 823 yards and 13 touchdowns. IFCA Top 50 all-state 2020.

RB: Donovan Edwards, West Bloomfield (Mich.), 5-11, 190, sr.
Status: Signed with Michigan

No. 2 overall prospect in Michigan and the country’s No. 4 running back prospect was named first team MHSFCA and AP Division 1-2 All-State this season after rushing for 1,021 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Lakers who are still alive in the MHSAA playoffs. Rushed for 1,230 yards and 16 touchdowns and had 419 yards receiving with five touchdowns last season. Holds 43 offers including Alabama, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Texas, USC and Oklahoma.



RB: Anthony Tyus III, Portage Northern (Mich.), 6-1, 207, sr.
Status: Signed with Northwestern

Nation’s No. 33 running back prospect named first team MHSFCA and AP Division 1-2 all-state this season after rushing for 1,801 yards 22 touchdowns on 174 carries. Also had 18 catches for 253 yards and a score and 54 tackles (5.5 for loss), two interceptions, one sack, two fumble recoveries, one forced fumble and two defensive touchdowns. Ran for 1,861 yards and 19 touchdowns on 199 carries last season. Holds 13 offers, including Cincinnati, Michigan State, Iowa State and Indiana.

State’s No. 2 overall prospect caught 25 touchdowns the last two years. Tigers have finished state runner-up the last three years.

Helped Irish claim the IHSAA 5A state title by catching 72 passes for 901 yards and 19 touchdowns as a senior. IFCA Top 50 all-state 2020 and IFCA Mr. Football position winner.

The top-rated tight end in Pennsylvania is a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class 6A all-state.

Status: Signed with Wisconsin

A Top 20 tackle prospect and Top 150 player nationally. Four-star recruit helped the Cougars finish 8-0. Named first team AP all-state.

OL: Joey Tanona, Zionsville (Ind.), 6-5, 280, jr.
Status: Committed to Notre Dame

Four-star recruit is the nation's No. 13 tackle prospect for 2022. Chose the Irish over Ohio State, Penn State, LSU, Michigan, Tennessee, Purdue, Indiana, Iowa and Nebraska. IFCA Top 50 all-state 2020.



OL: Giovanni El-Hadi, Stevenson (Livonia, Mich.), 6-5, 285, sr.
Status: Signed with Michigan

No. 4 overall prospect in Michigan and No. 9 tackle prospect nationally. Gave up one sack in 138 pass attempts last year and had 53 pancake blocks. AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan.

Status: Signed with LSU

No. 5 overall prospect in Michigan and No. 14 tackle prospect nationally. Holds 16 offers including Alabama, LSU, Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State and Ohio State. Named first team MHSFCA and AP Divisions 1-2 all-state.

Finalist for Indiana’s Mr. Football led the Wildcats to first winning season since 2005 by throwing for 2,576 yards and 22 touchdowns. Also rushed for 506 yards. IFCA Top 50 all-state 2020 and IFCA Mr. Football position winner (QB).

K: Sander Sahaydak, Liberty (Bethlehem, Pa.), 6-2, 160, sr.

The second ranked kicker in the Class of 2021.

ALL-GREAT LAKES REGION THIRD TEAM OFFENSE

QB: Brendan Sullivan, Davison (Mich.), 6-3, 180, sr.
Status: Signed with Northwestern

Top 25 pro-style quarterback prospect nationally and Michigan’s No. 17 overall prospect. Threw for 3,044 yards and 33 touchdowns and rushed for 407 yards and 11 touchdowns last year en route to leading Davison to its first state title. Named first team MHSFCA and AP Division 1-2 All-State this season after leading the Cardinals to a 9-0 record (still in playoffs).



RB: Caden Woodall, Stevenson (Livonia, Mich.), 6-1, 220, sr.
Status: Committed to Harvard

Ran for 2,238 yards and 34 touchdowns in eight games as a senior. Caps career with 3,413 rushing yards and 52 total touchdowns. Named first team AP Division 1-2 All-Michigan.

RB: Nicholas Singleton, Governor Mifflin (Shillington, Pa.), 5-11, 195, jr.
Status: Uncommitted

The four-star running back rushed for over 1,300 yards and 22 touchdowns as a junior. Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class 6A all-state.

WR: Andrel Anthony Jr., East Lansing (Mich.), 6-2, 175, sr.
Status: Signed with Michigan

Top 85 receiver prospect nationally named first team MHSFCA and AP Divisions 1-2 all-state this season (31 catches for 564 yards and four touchdowns in seven games). Holds 27 offers, including Notre Dame, Penn State, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Northwestern and Purdue. Caught 54 passes last season for school records in receiving yards (954) and touchdowns (nine). Program’s career leader in receiving yards (1,971 career yards).

WR: Lonnie White Jr., Malvern Prep (Malvern, Pa.), 6-2, 210, sr.
Status: Signed with Penn State

The two-sport standout checks in as the No. 4 prospect in the state and No. 9 wide receiver nationally. Outfielder also considered one of the Top 40 prospects in the 2021 MLB Draft. Will play both sports at PSU. Limited to four games as a senior, but still managed seven touchdowns and three interceptions.

Nation’s No. 3 center prospect and Michigan’s No. 7 overall prospect is the program’s first four-year starter on the OL. Named first team MHSFCA and AP Divisions 1-2 all-state this season.

Earned his fourth star when 247sports updated its player rankings in November after a great senior season for the Cougars. Pennsylvania Football Writers’ Class 6A all-state selection.

Minnesota AP State Player of the Year led Minnesota in touchdown passes (36), completions (137) and was second in yards (1,965) as the Spuds finished a COVID-shortened season undefeated (7-0). Threw for seven TDs and ran for two more in the season finale (63-7 win over Alexandria).
