Softball Recap: Skutt Catholic Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

Skutt Catholic came out on top against Duchesne/Roncalli on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run first inning. The SkyHawks blew past Duchesne/Roncalli 13-0. The SkyHawks' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Cassidy Jessen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Jessen was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Isa Torrez looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season.

Back at the plate, Avery Wilson and Kira Stroh did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson went a perfect 1-for-1 with four RBI, one run, and one double, while Stroh went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That triple was Stroh's first of the season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Glatter, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Skutt Catholic hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Skutt Catholic's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-2. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.7 runs over those games. As for Duchesne/Roncalli, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-2.

Skutt Catholic didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 13-11 win against Waverly on the 28th. As for Duchesne/Roncalli, they have also already played their next contest, a 7-4 loss against Aquinas on the 30th.
