After a string of three wins, Alva's good fortune finally ran out  on Thursday. They fell just short of the Purcell Dragons by a score of  4-3. If the Goldbugs were looking for revenge after losing  7-2 to the Dragons when the teams met back in August of 2023, then they'll just have to keep looking.
 Trinity Stevens was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She  pitched 2.1 innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't  given up  a single  earned run any time she's  pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box,  going 1-for-2 with two  stolen bases and two  runs.
 Stevens wasn't  the only one making solid contact as  four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was  Rien Buehrer, who  went 1-for-2 with one  triple and one  RBI.  Kaylen Woods also deserves some recognition as  she  snagged her first  stolen base of the season.
Alva's loss dropped their record down to 8-4. As for Purcell,  the  victory snapped their losing streak at three games  and leaves them with a 2-5 record.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alva will host Blanchard  at 10:00  a.m.  on Friday. As for Purcell, they will face off against Newcastle at 5:00  p.m.  on Monday.
