Basketball Recap: Mount Union Falls Despite Big Games from Maddie Dimoff and Cailyn Skopic

After flying high against Curwensville last Wednesday, Mount Union came back down to earth. The Mount Union Trojans took a 46-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Moshannon Valley Black Knights/Damsels on Saturday. The Trojans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Black Knights/Damsels earlier this season, when they won 39-31.

Despite the defeat, Mount Union had strong showings from Cailyn Skopic, who posted 14 points in addition to seven steals and five assists, and Maddie Dimoff, who went 6 for 13 on her way to 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Skopic is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last six games she's played. Kymber Osborne was another key player, putting up six points.

Mount Union's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Moshannon Valley, their win bumped their record up to 6-14.

Coming up, Mount Union will take on Huntingdon at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Moshannon Valley, they will square off against Cambria Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
