Softball Recap: Ponca Beats O'neill for Their Third Straight Win

Ponca took a nine-run loss the last time they faced off against O'Neill, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Indians had just enough and edged out the Eagles 4-3. The victory was familiar territory for the Indians, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Jaeden Hughes spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Cora Jackson, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted over her last ten games.

Ponca's win bumped their record up to 8-10. As for O'Neill, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
