Recap: Helix Highlanders vs. Monte Vista Monarchs
Make it eight blowout wins for the Helix Highlanders this season. They blew past Monte Vista 61-20 on the road. Given Helix's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 318th, while Monte Vista is ranked 737th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jordyn McMillan, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 14 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Valerie Marquez, who scored nine points along with 18 rebounds.
Helix has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. As for Monte Vista, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Helix will look to defend their home court on Friday against Granite Hills at 5:30 p.m. Granite Hills has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Monte Vista, they will head out on the road to take on Grossmont at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
