Recap: Katella Knights vs. Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies
After a string of seven wins, the Katella Knights's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 58-41 fall against Godinez Fundamental. Katella has not had much luck with Godinez Fundamental recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Leading Godinez Fundamental to victory were Valerie Esteban and Julissa Mota. Esteban scored 17 points along with two steals, while Mota scored 14 points along with six assists and five rebounds. Esteban continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Valeria Arcos, who scored eight points.
Katella's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-6. As for Godinez Fundamental, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 10-8 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Katella will square off against Segerstrom at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Segerstrom will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. As for Godinez Fundamental, they will head out on the road to face off against Garden Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Garden Grove will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 964th, while Godinez Fundamental is ranked 463rd).
