Football Game Preview: Poteau Pirates vs. Ada Cougars

The Poteau Pirates will square off against the Ada Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are still undefeated after four games, but that won't be the case come Friday.

Poteau proved they can win big on September 12th (they won by 37) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They won a matchup that couldn't have been any closer, slipping by Stilwell 31-30. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while the Indians are ranked 146th) , the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Poteau had a senior duo take command as Spencer Perry rushed for 165 yards and Sam Tecla threw for 157 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 83.3% of his passes.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Ada). They were the clear victors by a 52-26 margin over McLain Science & Tech on Friday. With the Cougars ahead 42-7 at the half, the game was all but over already.

Poteau's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Ada, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-0.
