Football Game Preview: Kimball Cubs vs. Eden Valley-Watkins Eagles

Kimball is 1-7 against Eden Valley-Watkins since August of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Cubs will take on the Eagles. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Kimball is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Paynesville get on the board and left with a 14-0 win. The victory continues a trend for the Cubs in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won four in a row.

Meanwhile, Eden Valley-Watkins blew past Paynesville, posting a 30-0 win. Given the Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota football rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 165th) , the win on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Eden Valley-Watkins' defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Nick Becker, Landon McCann, and Michael Petermeier, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Kimball's victory bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Eden Valley-Watkins, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Kimball suffered a grim 32-8 defeat to Eden Valley-Watkins in their previous meeting two weeks ago. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of the Eagles' Brayden Becker, who picked up 184 receiving yards and four scores.
