Basketball Recap: Ferndale Comes Up Short

On Friday, the Ferndale Yellow Jackets ended up a good deal behind the Glendale Vikings and lost 45-30. The Yellow Jackets have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Ferndale lost, don't look at Aubrielle Leverknight. Despite the final result, she posted eight points along with seven steals and five rebounds. Leverknight is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Abby Barley was another key player, putting up six points in addition to five boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Ferndale smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Madison Peterson was her usual excellent self, scoring 18 points for Glendale. The team also got some help courtesy of Brielle Mcmillen, who had ten points.

Ferndale's defeat dropped their record down to 12-9. As for Glendale, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ferndale will host Fort Hill at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Ferndale is facing Fort Hill at the right time seeing as Fort Hill is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Glendale, they will take on Northern Cambria at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Glendale will also cruise into their next contest with the timing on their side: Northern Cambria will have lost 19 straight heading into Tuesday's game.
