Soccer Game Preview: Newton vs. Carlisle

The Newton Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Carlisle Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Newton's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Newton's offense. They came up short against Dallas Center-Grimes on Tuesday, falling 6-0. While losing is never fun, Newton can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Iowa soccer rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Dallas Center-Grimes are ranked 22nd).

Meanwhile, Carlisle also failed to score in their most recent game. They fell 2-0 to North Polk on Monday.

Carlisle now has a losing record of 3-4-7. As for Newton, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7-5.
