Softball Recap: Bloomingdale Falls Short of Doral Academy in the Playoffs

Bloomingdale and Doral Academy squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Bloomingdale had to settle for second. They fell just short of the Firebirds by a score of 5-4. The Bulls' defeat signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Natalie Cable was huge no matter where she played even without the win. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over 7.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 20 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Cable wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ashlee Singer, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Bloomingdale's loss dropped their record down to 19-8. As for Doral Academy, the win (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 30-1.

Bloomingdale does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Doral Academy, they will square off against Pace at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Patriots will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Firebirds surely won't give up without a fight.
