It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Amundsen had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 win over the Elmwood Park Tigers. Give the Vikings' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.

Ben Weihing and Alex Barsky dominated on the mound. Weihing tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits, while Barsky struck out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Weihing has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Amundsen's victory was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Ian Johnson, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Amundsen's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 21-12-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.0 runs on average over those games. As for Elmwood Park, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-18-1 record this season.

Amundsen will square off against Fenwick at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Elmwood Park does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
