Softball Recap: La Junta Comes Up Short

Southeast Colorado hit La Junta with a four-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Tigers took an 8-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Angels. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Angels this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-2 back in September.

Madayln Tafoya was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Ayanna Torrez was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

La Junta has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Southeast Colorado, their victory was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2.

As of now, neither La Junta nor the Angels have any future games scheduled.
