Basketball Game Preview: Christian Patriots vs. El Cajon Valley Braves

The Christian Patriots just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the El Cajon Valley Braves at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last seven matchups.

Christian will bounce into Saturday's contest after beating Point Loma, who they had gone 0-6 against in their six prior meetings. Christian breezed by Point Loma to the tune of 80-9 on Friday. The Patriots have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 22 points or more this season.

Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Maepon Johnson, who posted 25 points, and Leah Speers, who had 23 points. Those 25 points gave Johnson a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sierra Weckback, who scored 13 points.

Meanwhile, El Cajon Valley came up short against West Hills on Friday and fell 33-25. The Braves have struggled against the Wolf Pack recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.0 points per game. As for El Cajon Valley, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-5.

Christian couldn't quite finish off El Cajon Valley in their previous matchup back in December of 2015 and fell 41-38. Thankfully for Christian, Leanna Watson (who almost dropped a double-double on 27 points and nine boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
