The Hebron Christian Lions will venture away from home to face off against the Westminster Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Hebron Christian is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.
Hebron Christian is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Georgia's top teams: Prince Avenue Christian, who was ranked 14th at the time (Hebron Christian was ranked seventh). The Lions fell just short of the Wolverines by a score of 5-4 on Thursday. The Lions' loss signaled the end of their 12-game winning streak.
Gabby Raysor was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Leah Jensen was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Westminster won against Pace Academy on Monday with seven runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. The Wildcats beat Blessed Trinity by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-5. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Adelaide Banks spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on eight hits.
At the plate, Kate McDonald was excellent, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs and one RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Allison Rawls also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Hebron Christian's defeat was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 23-2. As for Westminster, they now have a winning record of 12-11.
Westminster's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Hebron Christian hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .395. It's a different story for Westminster, though, as they've only averaged .249. Will they be able to contain Hebron Christian's hitters?
Hebron Christian took their win against Westminster in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lions since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
