Basketball Recap: Tempe's Loss Ends Five-Game Winning Streak at Home

After flying high against Goldwater last Thursday, Tempe came back down to earth. The Tempe Buffaloes fell just short of the Greenway Demons by a score of 55-53 on Wednesday. The Buffaloes have struggled against the Demons recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Tempe's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damon Broadnax, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Those 13 points gave Broadnax a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Nassir Cobbs, who posted 15 points.

Even though they lost, Tempe was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Greenway only racked up five assists.

Greenway's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Carlos Diaz, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Calderon, who had ten points and six rebounds.

Tempe's loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-5. As for Greenway, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Tempe didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 80-43 victory against NFL Yet Academy on the 27th. As for Greenway, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 75-35 defeat against Valley Vista on the 23rd.
