Colusa skates past Pierce with ease

The Colusa RedHawks had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.4 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 51-24 victory over Pierce on the road. Given Colusa's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 362nd, while Pierce is ranked 859th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Aliah Ramirez was the offensive standout of the contest as she dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Danica Chavez, who scored 12 points along with five assists.

Colusa's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.7 points per game. As for Pierce, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colusa will square off against Durham at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Durham will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak. As for Pierce, they will head out on the road to square off against Live Oak at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with ten consecutive losses for Live Oak and three for Pierce.
