Soccer Recap: Marion Takes a Loss

Marion was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They came up short against Salem, falling 7-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Marion of the 5-2 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in October of 2024.

Marion's defeat dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Salem, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Marion will host Carbondale at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Salem, they will take on East Alton-Wood River at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Salem will be up against East Alton-Wood River's rather soft defense (which has allowed 5.8 goals per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
