Preview: Hammond Tornadoes vs. Fontainebleau Bulldogs

Hammond and Fontainebleau are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Hammond Tornadoes will head out on the road to take on the Fontainebleau Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Hammond posted their closest victory yet this season on Friday. They skirted past Belle Chasse 63-60. The win was just what Hammond needed coming off of a 79-45 loss in their prior match.

Hammond got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Justin Harland out in front who scored 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Armstrong, who scored 12 points along with three steals.

Meanwhile, Fontainebleau waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They pulled ahead with a 60-59 photo finish over E.D. White.

Hammond's win was their eighth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-8. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.5 points per game. As for Fontainebleau, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.

Hammond couldn't quite finish off Fontainebleau in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 and fell 48-46. Can Hammond avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
