Football Game Preview: Cedar Mountain Cougars vs. Wabasso Rabbits

The Cedar Mountain Cougars will face off against the Wabasso Rabbits on Saturday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Cedar Mountain is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They blew past Westbrook-Walnut Grove, posting a 51-0 win. That 51 point margin sets a new team best for the Cougars this season.

Jackson Guetter had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 193 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 13 carries. He also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Cedar Mountain is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 2-4 otherwise. Carson Schiller was another key player, throwing for 130 yards and one TD on only nine passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Cedar Mountain was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Cedar Mountain didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Thomas Dahmes led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself.

Meanwhile, Wabasso had just enough and edged out Heron Lake-Okabena/Fulda 20-18 on Wednesday.

Cedar Mountain has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 41.8 points over those games. As for Wabasso, their win bumped their record up to 7-1.

Cedar Mountain might still be hurting after the 22-0 defeat they got from Wabasso when the teams last played back in September. Can the Cougars avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
