Basketball Recap: Sayre Snaps 18-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sayre). They breezed by the Galeton Tigers to the tune of 46-13 on Saturday. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Redskins as it put an end to their 11-game losing streak.

Sayre's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abbie McGaughey, who posted 20 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave McGaughey a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Liz Hunter, who went 6 of 10 on her way to 13 points and seven rebounds.

Sayre smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

Sayre's win ended an 18-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-12. As for Galeton, they are on a 39-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-18.

Sayre wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-13 defeat against Athens on the 28th. As for Galeton, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 35-25 loss against Smethport on the 28th.
