Softball Recap: Ligonier Valley Gets the Win

While Ligonier Valley's win against Jeannette wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Jayhawks 7-5. The Rams haven't had any issues with the Jayhawks recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Ligonier Valley let Marlee Miller and Elyse Witcoski run wild. Miller got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Witcoski went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and three runs. Witcoski is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season. Bella Dolton also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.

The win got Ligonier Valley back to even at 3-3. As for Jeannette, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 5-1.

Coming up, Ligonier Valley is taking a road trip to challenge Deer Lakes at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Rams' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Lancers have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Jeannette, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Monessen at 4:00 p.m. The Greyhounds have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.43 runs per game on average), something the Jayhawks will no doubt try to take advantage of.
