Football Recap: Goddard Comes Up Short on the Road Against Maize + How To Watch

Goddard had to hit the road for their first game and it wasn't the result they were hoping for. They were beaten by the Maize Eagles 55-28 on Friday. The Lions were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in September of 2024.

Goddard lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Erik Olivas, who rushed for 121 yards and one TD, and also picked up 108 receiving yards and one score. He got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 74 yards. Another player making a difference was Brock Sullivan, who threw for 186 yards and three touchdowns.

Maize's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Brayden Myovela, who threw for 189 yards and three TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushed for 68 yards and one score. Shannon Jones was another key player, gaining 147 total yards and three touchdowns.

Goddard didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 36-28 victory against Eisenhower on the 12th. As for Maize, they have also already played their next contest, a 27-0 win against Andover on the 12th.
