Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Michaela Ellsmore and Tinnley Pidgeon Lead Ferndale to Victory

Ferndale lost to Hoopa Valley last Wednesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Everything went the Ferndale Wildcats' way against the Hoopa Valley Warriors as the Ferndale Wildcats made off with a 65-40 win. The Wildcats have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 20 points or more this season.

Leading Ferndale to victory were Tinnley Pidgeon and Michaela Ellsmore. Pidgeon posted 24 points, while Ellsmore scored 15 points. Pidgeon continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Emily Sauers, who had eight points.

Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Harmony Nelson, who put up 14 points. Wau'Kel Blake was another key player, putting up 11 points.

The victory made it two in a row for Ferndale and bumps their season record up to 14-8. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 32.5 points. As for Hoopa Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-10.

Ferndale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 59-46 defeat against Arcata on the 13th. As for Hoopa Valley, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 61-49 win against Tamalpais on the 19th.
