Softball Game Preview: Saxony Lutheran Crusaders vs. Perryville Pirates

The Saxony Lutheran Crusaders will venture away from home to take on the Perryville Pirates at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saxony Lutheran is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.6 runs per game this season.

Saxony Lutheran came out on top against East Carter on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run fifth inning. The Crusaders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Redbirds a 10-0 shutout. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Crusaders as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Adrionna Boland was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Another player making a difference was Jenna Unterreiner, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Meanwhile, Perryville was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat dating back to last season. They lost 10-0 to Festus.

The win got Saxony Lutheran back to even at 4-4. As for Perryville, their loss dropped their record down to 0-3.

Saxony Lutheran took their victory against Perryville in their previous matchup back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Crusaders since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
