Football Game Preview: Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers vs. Lordsburg Mavericks

The Mesilla Valley Christian School SonBlazers will square off against the Lordsburg Mavericks at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lordsburg took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mesilla Valley Christian School, who comes in off a win.

Mesilla Valley Christian School is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of New Mexico's top teams: Hagerman/Lake Arthur, who was ranked 19th at the time (Mesilla Valley Christian School was ranked eighth). The SonBlazers claimed a resounding 50-0 win over the Bobcats. Considering the SonBlazers have won four games by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, Lordsburg was beaten by Melrose 58-14 on Friday. The loss continues a trend for the Mavericks in their meetings with the Buffaloes: they've now lost four in a row.

Lordsburg's defeat dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Mesilla Valley Christian School, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Mesilla Valley Christian School was able to grind out a solid win over Lordsburg in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, winning 38-30. Will the SonBlazers repeat their success, or do the Mavericks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
