Basketball Recap: San Pasqual Comes Up Short

San Pasqual was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They received a blow as they fell 50-34 to the Escondido Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 35-29 back in January.

When it comes to explaining why San Pasqual lost, don't look at Sophia Myers. Despite the final result, she posted ten points in addition to five boards and three steals. Those ten points gave Myers a new career-high.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Escondido to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anaya McGlory, who went 10-for-24 en route to 28 points and eight rebounds. With that strong performance, McGlory is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Naomi Gutierrez, who dropped a double-double with 11 boards and 11 steals.

San Pasqual's loss dropped their record down to 6-10. As for Escondido, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-13.

San Pasqual didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 52-29 defeat against Valley Center on the 13th. As for Escondido, they will head out to square off against Ramona at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Escondido is facing Ramona at the right time seeing as Ramona is stuck on a 15-game losing streak.
