Baseball Game Preview: Masterman vs. Franklin Towne Warriors

Masterman will take on the Franklin Towne Warriors at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

Masterman fell victim to Central and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 8-0 to the Lancers. Masterman has struggled against Central recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive lost meeting.

Meanwhile, Franklin Towne waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They were the clear victors by a 15-1 margin over Science Leadership Academy. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won four games by ten runs or more so far this season.

Sean Diviny spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up seven Ks.

On the hitting side, Robert Brant was a standout: he got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, he posted four RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jayden Ocasio, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.

Franklin Towne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Science Leadership Academy only posted an OBP of .259.

Masterman's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Franklin Towne, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Masterman skirted past Franklin Towne 13-11 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will Masterman repeat their success, or does Franklin Towne has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
