Baseball Recap: Shaw Takes a Loss

After flying high against Kendrick last Friday, Shaw came back down to earth. The Shaw Raiders fell just short of the Smiths Station Panthers by a score of 7-6 on Monday.

Shaw got a good showing from Nathan Truitt, who pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Truitt has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Shaw saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sincere Ford, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-4.

Shaw's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Smiths Station, they moved to 7-13 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak.

Looking ahead, Shaw is taking a road trip to challenge Jordan at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Jordan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.7 runs per game this season. As for Smiths Station, they will welcome Russell County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
