Basketball Recap: Maywood CES Piles Up the Points Against Torres

Maywood CES won the last time they faced Torres and things went their way on Monday too. The Maywood CES Wolfpack claimed a resounding 58-18 victory over the Torres Toros. The Wolfpack have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 26 points or more this season.

Maywood CES' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carmen Lilly led the charge by putting up 26 points in addition to four steals and three blocks. With that strong performance, Lilly is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Alyssa Maldonado, who dropped a double-double with 15 points and 18 rebounds.

Maywood CES was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Maywood CES is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 18.2 points over those games. As for Torres, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 8-11 record this season.

Maywood CES didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 55-15 win against Sotomayor on the 12th. As for Torres, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 33-26 loss against Maywood Academy on the 13th.
