Basketball Game Preview: Rio Mesa Spartans vs. Pacifica Tritons

Rio Mesa is 0-10 against Pacifica since January of 2019 but things could change on Tuesday. The Rio Mesa Spartans will host the Pacifica Tritons at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Rio Mesa is headed into Tuesday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Saturday. They had to suffer through a 70-29 loss at the hands of Oxnard. While losing is never fun, the Spartans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 611th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 91st).

Meanwhile, Pacifica was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They lost to Dos Pueblos at home by a 76-60 margin.

Rio Mesa's loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Pacifica, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Rio Mesa came up short against Pacifica in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 47-36. Can Rio Mesa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
