Baseball Recap: Savannah Country Day Comes Up Short

Savannah Country Day was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat dating back to last season. They took a 9-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Hilton Head Christian Academy Eagles. The Hornets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Eagles apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2022.

Gabe Mckinney was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one triple, and one RBI. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stole at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Miles Carson also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Savannah Country Day's defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Hilton Head Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Savannah Country Day will venture away from home to challenge Camden County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hilton Head Christian Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Hilton Head Island at 6:30 p.m. on March 10th.
