Softball Recap: Valley Takes a Loss

Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They came up short against the Sterling Tigers, falling 20-12. Even if the Vikings couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Valley saw nine different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danica Flesner, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Another was Jasmin Gonzalez, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Sterling, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 8-9 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Valley will welcome Platte Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Broncos have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season. As for Sterling, they will host Limon at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
