Basketball Recap: Cabrillo Comes Up Short

Cabrillo lost against Long Beach Poly back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Cabrillo Jaguars were beaten by the Long Beach Poly Jackrabbits 80-27. The Jaguars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 54-22.

It was another big night for Joy Anderson, who almost dropped a double-double on 33 points and nine boards for Long Beach Poly. The matchup was Anderson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Lemons, who went 5 for 10 en route to 12 points and six steals.

Cabrillo's loss dropped their record down to 7-9. As for Long Beach Poly, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 14-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cabrillo will challenge Woodrow Wilson at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Long Beach Poly, they will face off against Millikan at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Long Beach Poly is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season.
