Blair and Elkhorn are an even 5-5 against one another since September of 2020, but likely not for long. The Bears will look to defend their home field on Monday against the Antlers at 5:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Blair comes in on four and Elkhorn on three.
Blair's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on Fremont with a sharp 14-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Taytum Macholan made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one run and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Laynie Brown, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emmi Hall, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Blair always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .645. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .606 or higher in four consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Elkhorn posted their closest win since September 8th on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Scottsbluff 6-4.
Karlie Villwok was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Ella Pearson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Elkhorn's win bumped their record up to 16-12. As for Blair, their victory bumped their record up to 22-6.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Blair hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .396. However, it's not like Elkhorn struggles in that department as they've averaged .327. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Blair came out on top in a nail-biter against Elkhorn in their previous matchup back in August, sneaking past 4-3. Do the Bears have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Antlers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
