Recap: Sumner Cowboys vs. Hammond Tornadoes

The Sumner Cowboys lost against the Hammond Tornadoes two weeks ago, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Sumner was dealt a 66-27 defeat at the hands of Hammond. While losing is never fun, Sumner can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while Hammond is ranked 117th).

Hammond was led to victory by Charles Armstrong and Levi Carson. Armstrong scored 12 points along with six assists, while Carson scored 16 points. That's the first time this season that Carson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trendan Spears, who scored three points along with five assists and three steals.

Sumner's loss dropped their record down to 4-12. As for Hammond, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Sumner will be home for the holidays to greet Doyle at 6:00 p.m. on December 21st. As for Hammond, they will head out on the road to face off against Franklinton at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
