Football Recap: Cherokee Christian Takes a Loss

Cherokee Christian lost against Lanier Christian Academy back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Warriors lost 31-7 to the Lightning. The game marked the Warriors' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Colton Messer threw for 122 yards and one TD. Quentin Hood was his top target, picking up 85 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Lanier Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Ben Hargis, who rushed for 79 yards and a pair of scores. Andrew Batusic did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 116 receiving yards.

This is the second loss in a row for Cherokee Christian and nudges their season record down to 1-4. As for Lanier Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.

Cherokee Christian will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Dominion Christian at 7:30 p.m. on October 3. As for Lanier Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 15-0 victory against Rock Springs Christian Academy on the 26th.
