Football Recap: Belle Plaine Takes a Loss

The matchup between Belle Plaine and Chaparral on Friday hardly resembled the 21-0 effort from their previous meeting. The Dragons lost 42-20 to the Roadrunners. The Dragons have struggled against the Roadrunners recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Brooks McGinnis threw for 53 yards on three of seven attempts. Mattix Bruner was his top target, picking up 35 receiving yards. On the ground, Talan Hefley rushed for 74 yards and two TDs on only six carries.

Chaparral can attribute much of their success to Daniel Schmidt, who rushed for 29 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also threw for 38 yards and one TD. The dominant performance also gave Schmidt a new career-high in rushing touchdowns (two).

Belle Plaine's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Chaparral, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0.

Belle Plaine didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 46-7 loss against Garden Plain on the 26th. As for Chaparral, they have also already played their next game, a 35-0 defeat against Pratt on the 26th.
